Language Line University

Language Line University’s training focuses on the development of the knowledge and skills necessary to raise the standard of interpreter efficiency, accuracy and cultural competence.

To train both new interpreters and bilingual staff, Language Line University offers an introduction to interpreting as a profession and the foundational skills needed to be an interpreter in the Fundamentals of Interpreting course.

This course covers numerous interpreting settings, as well the roles of the interpreter in those settings, and interpreting protocols and techniques. It also provides participants with the opportunity to practice and refine the skills necessary for success in the profession.

For experienced interpreters who require more specialized training in the healthcare field, Language Line University offers the Advanced Medical Training for interpreters.

This 40-hour training consists of 3 components, any of which can be offered singly or in combination with one or two of the other components, thus enabling Language Line University to meet the unique needs of the participants.

The Advanced Medical Training is the only advanced training currently available for healthcare interpreters.

It is offered in flexible timeframes that can help interpreters who register for this interactive training to complete the course in their own time and/or in short, manageable segments.

Language Line University also offers the option of on-site training for larger groups.

Upon completion of any of Language Line University’s training courses, participants receive a Certificate of Completion to document their efforts towards their professional development as interpreters.
